South Africa is one of the most diverse countries in the world, and this is something you’ll feel within moments of stepping foot in Cape Town or Johannesburg.  Culture, nationalities, and customs from across the country are instantly recognizable wherever you go.  A massive draw for many is the natural beauty of South Africa – with stunning beaches and national parks galore.  South Africa offers travelers a truly immersive experience – and it’s easy to see why so many people choose to stay.  Here are five reasons why you should explore South Africa today…

    Cape Town

Cape Town is one of the most visited cities in the world , and there are many good reasons why you should visit too.  It is a modern, cosmopolitan city surrounded by nature.  Centered around Table Mountain, one of the New 7 Wonders of the world, Mother City is known for its beautiful beaches, stunning biodiversity, award-winning food and wine, and sheer variety of experiences.  You can experience world-class cuisine and art, walk along the bustling streets or relax in one of the many scenic gardens.  Cape Town is also home to some fantastic beaches where you can enjoy swimming, surfing, and sunbathing.

    2. Pilanesberg National Park

Pilanesberg National Park is the second largest and second oldest national park in South Africa.  Guests come to Pilanesberg National Park to enjoy the untamed African landscape.  Here the Big 5 roam free.  The mixture of Lowveld and Kalahari vegetation ensures a lush environment for wildlife to thrive.  It has a fascinating history and is sacred to the San people.  The park covers about 2500 square miles and is home to various animals, including leopard, rhinos, buffalo, elephants, and bird species.  The park is renowned for its hiking trails.  There are numerous hiking routes throughout the park, many of which are historical trails that hunters, pastoralists and early tourists have used.  The trails offer spectacular views of the Hlathi River and the Caledon Forest.

    3. KwaZulu Natal

KwaZulu-Natal, formerly Natal, province of South Africa, occupying the southeastern portion of the country, is bounded to the north by Swaziland and Mozambique, to the east by the Indian Ocean, to the south by Eastern Cape province, to the west by Lesotho and Free State province, and to the northwest by Mpumalanga province.  There are endless picturesque landscapes, a variety of landscapes, forests, beaches, and charming historic towns and villages to explore.  You’ll never get bored with so much to see and explore in the area.  There are also many attractions in and around the room, so you’ll have plenty to keep you busy.

    4. Kruger National Park

Kruger National Park is widely regarded as the undisputed king of safari destinations.  It’s home to the Big Five – including the elephant, buffalo, rhino, leopard and Cape buffalo – as well as a vast array of other wildlife.  When you visit the park, you’ll see more than 200 species of animals, including the rare black-maned lion, along with thousands of other species.  The park is also home to many archaeological and cultural sites, as well as over 350 types of plants.

    5. Garden Route

The Garden Route is the most popular drive in South Africa.  It’s a long coastal route that runs through the Western Cape and the Eastern Cape.  The southern route is more popular, while the northern route is more scenic and less crowded.  The route starts at Cape Town and ends in Port Elizabeth.  Many tourists choose to visit highlights of the route, taking a day trip from Cape Town to Simon’s Town and then heading south along the coast.  The southern route is much more scenic, with more winding mountain roads that lead to wine farms and beautiful national parks.  You’ll want to stop at picturesque towns such as Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, and Swartland.  You can also visit the famous Cape Winelands and Sedgefield’s UNESCO World Heritage site.

    6. Cape Winelands

The Cape Winelands is one of the most popular destinations in South Africa.  The region is home to many world-class vineyards, which produce some of the best wines in the world.  You can visit the wineries and sample the wines or simply enjoy a relaxing lunch or dinner at one of the wineries.  While visitors usually spend their days tasting world-renowned wine and trying top-quality local dining options, there are also plenty of other activities to enjoy.  The region is very walkable, and you can easily explore the wineries, relax on a sunny beach, and shop in one of the many quaint towns in the region.

    Final Thoughts

South Africa is one of the most culturally diverse countries in the world, with a rich history, abundant natural beauty, and vibrant modern city life.    South Africa is home to many unique cultures and traditions and is also a great place to explore its natural diversity.  Once you explore the wonders of this country, you will never want to leave!
