Whether you’re looking for an adventure with friends, a romantic getaway, or an escape from daily life, there are plenty of amazing girl’s getaways around the globe.  Whether it’s to soak up some culture and take in the sights or simply spend time with your girlfriends away from home, these unique destinations will have you feeling like a local after just one experience.  Whether you prefer sandy beaches and azure waters to rocky coastlines and snowy peaks, we’ve found some of the best girl’s getaways across the world – and they’re all within striking distance (pun intended).  From luxurious resorts to quaint B&Bs and rustic camping grounds – these hidden gems won’t disappoint.

    1. Accra, Ghana

The sun-soaked city of Accra, situated on the banks of the River Volta, is perfect for a girls’ getaway.  With an extensive range of beaches and an abundance of nearby National Parks, there’s plenty to see and do.  Visit the National Museum, National Theatre and the Botanical Gardens, or try your hand at traditional crafts.  For some culture, visit the famous Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum, or hop on a bus to the renowned Popenguine Tonesi Ginen Salt Mines.  For a more active excursion, take a scuba diving lesson, or a ride on a canoe.  And don’t forget to treat yourself to a traditional Ghanaian massage.  This treat is available at most hotels and is a great way to relax after a long day of exploring.  For a night out, explore the colorful and vibrant downtown area, or if you’re looking for somewhere a little quieter, head to the upscale neighborhood of Osu.  There are many great restaurants and bars; you’ll be spoiled by choice.

    2. Santorini, Greece

The island of Santorini is one of the most picturesque spots in the world – and is a must-visit for girls looking for a beach getaway.  Perched on the edge of the caldera and surrounded by dramatic cliffs and sandy beaches, you’ll feel like you’re on a movie set.  For culture, history buffs will love exploring the island’s many archaeological sites, including the famous Akrotiri, the Thirassia Archaeological Museum, and the Pyrgos.  If you’re more of an outdoors person, there’s plenty of hiking, caving, and scuba diving to be done.  Be sure to visit the Santorini towns of Fira and Oia, too – where sunsets are notoriously picturesque.

    3. Bali, Indonesia

The sunny island of Bali is the perfect destination for a girl’s getaway.  Visit the ancient temples of Ubud, the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary, or Denpasar and Kuta’s exciting museums and art galleries.  For some culture, visit the Balinese dancers at the Prambanan or the Barong and Kris Dance at the Ubud Royal Palace.  There’s also a range of water sports and excursions, including scuba diving, snorkeling, and boating along the coast.  Bali is a very religious, so be sure to respect the Balinese religion and culture.  Regarding nightlife, Kuta and Seminyak are the best places to go for a lively night out.  In the more sophisticated Seminyak, you’ll find plenty of cocktail bars, clubs, upscale restaurants, and shisha bars.  In Kuta, you’ll find more of a party scene with a mix of bars and clubs and street food and beachside cafes.

    4. Montego Bay, Jamaica

The sweet blend of reggae music, Rastafarian culture, and tropical feel weather makes Montego Bay the perfect place to escape in style.  Visit the Bob Marley Museum or the Blue Mountain Coffee Estate.  For culture, visit the open-air Jamaican National Gallery or St. Ann’s Bay for stunning views.  You can also take a ride on the authentic Jamaican Railway or explore the world’s only all-in-one rum distillery, Authentic Jamaican Rum.  Don’t forget to sample some of the local cuisines while you’re there – with everything from jerk chicken to smoked brisket and catfish; there’s something for everyone.  For something a little more lively, visit the seaside town of Ocho Rios for a festive night out.  You’ll find plenty of bars and clubs, as well as cafes and street food.  If you’re looking for something more sophisticated, the town of Montego Bay has a selection of bars and clubs and plenty of upscale restaurants.

    5. Marrakech, Morocco

The city of Marrakech is a vibrant and colorful place that is perfect for a girl’s getaway.  Visit the famous Jemaa el-Fnaa square, or hike to the breathtaking views of the Atlas Mountains.  For culture, visit the Souks to explore the vibrant markets or the Museum of Moroccan Arts.  You can cool down with a mint of tea and a trip to the hammam.  You’ll also find a wide selection of authentic Moroccan food, so be sure to try a few dishes – tagines and couscous are favorites.  There are plenty of bars and clubs in the city for a lively night out.  You’ll find a mix of locals and tourists in the narrow cobblestone streets, with music often playing from the many cafes.

    6. Havana, Cuba

The vibrant city of Havana, located on Cuba’s southern coast, is the perfect place for a girl’s getaway.  Visit the Plaza de Armas square, or take a stroll down the Malecon seafront – where you’ll find plenty of street art to admire.  For culture, visit the Museo de la Revolucion, the Palacio de Bellas Artes, or the Castillo de los Tres Reyes Magos del Morro.  You can cool down with a refreshing mango daiquiri or try a traditional mojito – a popular Cuban cocktail.  For a lively night out, visit the vibrant neighborhood of Vedado.  You’ll find plenty of bars and clubs, as well as cafes and street food.  If you’re looking for something a little more sophisticated, head to the upscale neighborhood of Central Havana.

    7. Buenos Aires, Argentina

The lively city of Buenos Aires, in the heart of Argentina, is the perfect place for a girls’ getaway.  Argentina has it all – chic cities, beautiful countryside, and wine.  The cosmopolitan city of Buenos Aires is known as the “Paris of South America”.  It’s an ideal spot to start any girl’s trip to Argentina, but don’t stop there.  Continue to Mendoza, one of South America’s most productive wine regions, known for its “good sunshine and good wine.” Book a stay at The Vine Resort & Spa, surrounded by 1,500 acres of vineyards.  It has earned a spot on every “Best,” “It,” “Hot,” and “Top” List out there.

    8. New Orleans, Louisiana

Louisiana is famous for its southern charm and New Orleans, in particular, offers visitors a truly unique experience.  New Orleans is one of the top girls’ trip destinations in the United States.  It has great nightlife, delicious food, unique culture, and rich history.  While it’s an excellent destination for those who love music and culture, the city also offers lively nightlife and many activities throughout the day.  From shopping and exploring the French Quarter to strolling along the Mississippi River, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.  Accommodations are relatively cheap compared to other popular destinations, and the city has plenty of great food and drinks options that won’t break the bank.

    9. Istanbul, Turkey

There is nowhere in the world quite like Istanbul.  Spread across two continents, Istanbul is a city of layers and contrasts.  With historical sights like the Hagia Sophia and Topkapi Palace brushing up against buzzing bars and lively cafes, with Ottoman-era mosques a short walk from contemporary art museums and galleries, with traditional carpet shops around the corner from trendy boutiques, Istanbul is a city of old and new coexisting.  The city never stops moving.

    10. Tokyo, Japan

Tokyo is an incredible city, offering a unique blend of east and west cultures.  The city is home to the iconic Tokyo Tower and many stunning temples and shrines.  Tokyo is a city of surprises — ancient temples are nestled among modern skyscrapers, and you’re just as likely to see someone wearing a cosplay costume as you are to see someone dressed in a traditional kimono.  And even though Tokyo is the most populated city in the world, the streets can be almost eerily silent.  You’ll find every modern convenience (and then some), but because Japan was closed off to the rest of the world for many years, tech evolved in a way that reflects the Japanese psyche, English is not widely spoken, and the far-reaching effect of globalization is still minimal.

    Final Thoughts

The world is a big place with endless destinations to explore.  Visiting different parts of the globe can help you to understand other cultures better and create new friendships with people from different backgrounds.  It’s important to remember that while places like New York City and London are well known, they may not be the best fit for every girl.  It’s essential to think about each person’s travel style and personality when choosing a destination.  Whether you prefer a beach destination or a city break, there is something for everyone out there.  It’s just a matter of finding the right fit for you and your friends.
